According to a first-quarter report issued earlier today by Ripple, the San Francisco-based enterprise blockchain company holds 45.6 billion XRP tokens. This represents a 1.7% increase compared to the previous quarter (44.8 billion tokens).
Meanwhile, the number of tokens held in escrow has fallen by 2.3% from 38 billion to 37.1 billion.
Ripple releases tokens monthly from Escrow. As Reported by U.Todaythe company unlocked an additional 1 billion XRP on May 3rd. It is also noteworthy that the company tends to return a significant portion of its newly released tokens to escrow, and reduce supply entering the market.
According to Coingecko data, XRP is currently trading at $2.15. At current prices, the total amount of tokens controlled by Ripple is $98.6 billion.
As Reported by U.TodayBitwise President Teddy Fusalo recently claimed that Ripple could potentially buy many crypto companies with its vast XRP holdings.
The company’s first quarter report mentions the recent acquisition of prime brokerage Hidden Road.
Ripple is also reportedly interested in Cockiring Circle, the well-known payment company behind the popular USDC Stablecoin.
