Solana is preparing for a major upgrade to validators, increasing scalability and throughput.
Solana (Sol) is rolling out major upgrades that it hopes to make the chain more scalable. On Monday, May 5th, Solana’s development optimization service Helius announced the deployment of Agave V2.2, an update to the Solana Balidator client. This update will increase block capacity by 20% and introduce other improvements to network scalability and throughput.

For one, the block limit is increased from 50 million to 60 million computational units, increasing throughput. The higher the block limit, the more scalable the network can handle transactions per second. This also helps Solana deal with the crowds that have been a problem in the past.

Solana Ligave 2.2 brings speed and enhances the experience
The network replaces the Mercury Tree with an account lattice hash. This means that account updates only track changes rather than the entire data, significantly reducing the load on your network. According to Ben Hawkins, head of the Solana Foundation’s staking ecosystem,

For developers, upgrades can provide a better experience in several ways. One will allow developers to pause and update apps without removing them when they find a bug. At the same time, instead of re-uploading the entire codebase, developers can also update small portions of their apps to store their computing resources.

At the same time, developers can connect app components without workaround due to the restrictions on deleted callers. For users, Solana has added support for passwordless logins. This makes the app even more secure for Web2 users.
In 2022, Solana suffered from the outages of several networks, spurring criticism of its stability and decentralization. This came after the collapse of FTX. This was Solana’s main verification device. Since then, the network has not suffered from technical challenges at its size.
