Ripple’s internal code resurfaced in public discussion after researcher SMQKE published new findings linking XRP to the ISO 20022 standard. The XRP community quickly seized the screenshot as expected evidence of Ripple’s continued adaptation to global interbank protocols.
SMQKE has posted a screenshot from RippleNet CodeBase where the “External Clearing System” field refers to “ISO 20022 External Clearing System Identification Code List”. This is cited as evidence that Ripple’s architecture is designed to support ISO 20022 message formats. XRP proponents argue that this integrity means future technical and regulatory compatibility with global interbank protocols.
In a previous statement, Marcus Treacher, former head of global strategy at Ripple, confirmed that Ripplenet is designed with interoperability and financial messaging in mind. Treacher emphasized that Ripple’s goal is always to reduce cross-border payment friction, and the ISO 20022 format provides the necessary framework to achieve this.
